Tellthebell.com survey: the Taco Bell survey, step by step

Checked against the live tellthebell.com page on September 9, 2026. Unofficial guide. Not run by Taco Bell, Yum! Brands, or SMG.

The live tellthebell survey page asks for three things: a store number, a date, and a time. That's it. No 16-digit code, no login, no app. I opened the page this morning and the form looks exactly like the screenshot below, with 2025 and 2026 in the year dropdown and a plain grey Start button.

Most of the guides ranking for "tellthebell" still tell you to hunt for a 16-digit survey code on your receipt. Some of them were last touched in 2022. If you've been staring at the bottom of a Taco Bell receipt looking for a code that isn't there, that's why.

Same form, a dozen names. Search data calls this one survey a lot of things: tell the bell taco bell survey, taco bell tell the bell, tell the bell taco, tellthebell bell, tellthebell taco bell survey, tacobell tellthebell survey, tbell survey, tacobell survey, survey for taco bell, tell taco bell survey, tell the taco bell survey, taco bell survey tell the bell, taco bell review survey, taco bell feedback, tacobell feedback and taco bell customer feedback. SMG's own title for it, in the page header, is the Taco Bell Customer Satisfaction Survey. Every one of those names lands on the same three fields.

Is the taco bell survey with receipt free? Yes, and here's the catch

Taking the survey costs nothing, and the last official rules I could find (the 2024 Taco Bell Survey Sweepstakes PDF, hosted on tellthebell.com itself) say in capital letters that no purchase is necessary to enter or win. The catch is timing. The page will accept a date from 2025, but the sweepstakes drawings, when they run, are tied to entry periods of roughly four weeks. A receipt from three months ago gets you a survey and nothing else.

Use the checker below before you type anything in. It only does date math; nothing leaves your browser.

Where the store number sits on a Taco Bell receipt

Look near the top of the receipt, right under the Taco Bell name and the street address. The taco bell store number is printed there on almost every register receipt I've seen, usually as a 5 or 6 digit number, sometimes with leading zeroes. The page's own instruction is "Enter all digits, including zeroes", which tells you the zeroes matter to their database.

Some receipts, mostly from franchise-owned stores, also print a line at the bottom inviting you to the survey. That line is where older guides got the "survey code" idea. If yours has one, fine. The live form has nowhere to type it.

Date and time are both on the receipt too, normally on the same line, near the order number. Keep the receipt flat and readable. Thermal paper fades in a hot car within a day or two, and I've lost one that way.

www tellthebell com survey steps, taken from the live page

Seven steps, about five minutes. I've included the crops from the actual page so you can match what you see.

  1. Keep the receipt from your visit

Dine-in, drive-thru, or kiosk, the paper receipt is what you need. App orders are a grey area: the app sends a digital receipt with a store number, and that number does work in the form, but you'll have to scroll your order history to find it.

  2. Go to www.tellthebell.com

Type it yourself or use the button at the top of this page. The real address is tellthebell.com with no extra words. The header shows the Tell The Bell speech-bubble logo on the left and the Taco Bell logo on the right.

Tell The Bell header with the Tell us about your visit banner and Taco Bell logo
  3. Pick the accessibility version if you use a screen reader

There's a blue "Load Accessibility Friendly Version" link under the welcome text. Same questions, plainer layout, bigger targets. Most people skip it.

Welcome text and Load Accessibility Friendly Version link on tellthebell.com
  4. Type the store number

All digits, including zeroes. If you get an "invalid" message, the usual cause is a dropped leading zero or reading the order number by mistake. The order number is longer and sits lower on the receipt.

  5. Set the date and time of the visit

Three dropdowns for the date (month / day / year, with 2026 selected by default) and three for the time (hour, minute, AM or PM). Match the receipt to the minute if you can. SMG uses the time to match your answers to the shift that served you, which is the whole point of the survey from the store's side.

  6. Press Start and answer honestly

The Start button has a small play icon on it. Press it. What follows is a set of rating screens, one topic per screen, then a comment box, and the questions are broken down in the next section.

Start button on the tellthebell.com survey homepage
  7. Enter the drawing, if it's open

When a sweepstakes period is running, the final screen asks for your name, email, and phone so they can contact a winner. Plain thank-you screen, no contact form? No drawing that day. Under the 2024 rules, potential winners were emailed and had 48 hours to confirm their address.

The Español link at the bottom right switches the whole survey to Spanish. This is the "tellthebell com survey español" people search for; there's no separate site.

Tellthebell survey questions: what SMG asks in those five minutes

SMG (Service Management Group, the Kansas City firm that runs receipt surveys for a long list of chains) uses a five-point scale on almost every screen: Highly Satisfied down to Highly Dissatisfied. If you searched "www tellthebell com survey questions", this is the list. The Taco Bell version, as of my last run through it, goes roughly like this.

First, how you ordered: dine-in, drive-thru, mobile app pickup, or delivery. Then a single rating for the visit as a whole. Then the operational stuff, one screen each: order accuracy, speed, friendliness of the crew, cleanliness of the restaurant, and the taste and temperature of the food. Then a value-for-money question and a "would you recommend" question.

Somewhere near the end it asks whether you had a problem during the visit. Say yes and you get a follow-up asking what it was and whether it was fixed. This is the answer that reaches the store manager. Write it carefully.

The comment box at the end has a character limit I've never hit. Write the thing that bothered you, or the name of the person who was good. Managers do read these. From what franchise managers have written on Reddit, the weekly survey report is usually the first thing an area coach asks about.

Taco Bell has been doing this a long time. A 1993 Quirk's article describes a store-level satisfaction program that started in 1989 and was reporting on more than 2,200 company-owned stores within days of each survey wave. The website came later; the habit didn't.

Tellthebell com application and tell the bell survey login: neither exists

Two searches come up over and over, and both point at things that don't exist. There is no tellthebell app in the App Store or Google Play. There is no tell the bell survey login page, no username, no password. The survey is a public web form. If a site asks you to "log in to tellthebell", close the tab.

The confusion probably comes from the Taco Bell app itself, which has its own rewards login and its own "rate your order" prompt after a mobile purchase. That in-app rating is a separate feedback path. It doesn't go through tellthebell.com and it isn't tied to the sweepstakes.

Same goes for "tellthebell com survey code login" and "tellthebell com online survey code". No code, no login. Store number, date, time, Start.

Taco bell survey discount, free taco, or $500 e-gift card: what you actually get

Here's the part where I disagree with almost every other page on this topic. There is no taco bell survey discount. The survey has never printed a coupon code at the end the way the Taco John's one does, and the current tellthebell.com homepage doesn't mention a prize at all. Not the $500, not a free taco, nothing.

What has existed, on and off, is a sweepstakes. The most recent official rules document I could find is titled "2024 Taco Bell Survey Sweepstakes" and it ran from August 7, 2024 to October 1, 2024, in two survey periods, with four $500 e-gift card winners per period. Eight winners, $4,000 in total. Before that there was a run from December 27, 2023 to June 12, 2024 with six periods and 24 winners.

One survey guide lists a 2025 run ending December 26, 2025 with a West Bloomfield, Michigan mailing address. I couldn't find the rules PDF for it, so I'm not treating it as confirmed.

So when you see "www tellthebell com 500 survey" or "tellthebell sweepstakes survey" in a headline, read it as "a $500 drawing that has run in the past". Whether one is running the week you read this, the only reliable tell is the last screen of the survey. If it asks for your contact details, a drawing is on. If it doesn't, it isn't.

Entry limitOne entry per person per survey period; one prize per household for the whole run
ReceiptsEach receipt can be entered once
Who can enterLegal residents of the 50 US states and DC, 18 or older; not employees of Taco Bell, Yum! Brands, SMG, or the administrator, or their families
DeliveryE-gift card sent within 4 to 6 weeks of the winner being verified

Does anyone actually win the $500 e-gift card?

Yes, four people a month did in 2024, and the rules let you request the winner list by mail. The 2024 document gives the address for that: send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to "2024 Aug-Oct Taco Bell Survey Sweepstakes Winner Confirmation Request, PO Box 654, Social Circle, GA 30025-654". I haven't done it. If you have, I'd like to know what came back.

The odds are the honest problem. The rules say only that odds "depend upon the total number of eligible entries received for each Survey Period", and Taco Bell says it serves more than 40 million customers a week across 7,000-plus US stores. Even if one customer in a thousand takes the survey, you're looking at very long odds. Pick a guess below and see.

Giving a 1-out-of-5 score doesn't hurt your odds. The drawing is random among eligible entries. Your rating changes what the store manager sees, not whether your name goes in the hat. I've seen the opposite claim on Reddit and it's wrong; the rules don't mention scores anywhere.

Mail-in entry from the last official rules (AMOE)

Every US sweepstakes has to have a free entry route, and Taco Bell's is a postcard. This is from the 2024 rules and it will change with any new run, so check the current PDF if one is linked from the final survey screen. The method has stayed the same for years; the PO box is what moves.

The card

A 3 inch by 5 inch card. Hand print (their word) your name, complete address, city, state, zip code, daytime phone number, and birth date. Typed cards were not mentioned as acceptable, so I'd hand write it.

The envelope

2024 Taco Bell Survey Sweepstakes Entry PO Box 728 Social Circle, GA 30025-0728

Postmarked by the end of the entry period. Under the 2024 rules a mailed entry counts the same as a survey entry, and the same one-entry-per-period limit applies, so you can't do both in the same period.

Tellthebell.com survey vs. look-alike sites

Official verified

www.tellthebell.com (US). Footer says "© 2026 SMG. All rights reserved" with links to smg.com's privacy policy and terms. The Canada and UK versions redirect to u.tacobellsurvey.com. Sponsor on the rules: Taco Bell Corp., 1 Glen Bell Way, Irvine, CA 92618.

Not official avoid

Any site asking for a card number, a "processing fee", a login, or an app download. Any domain like tellthebell.bond, tellthebell.casa, tellthebell.bar, or tellthebellsurvey.store. Any email saying you've won before you've confirmed anything.

The cheap giveaway is the prize claim. The real page doesn't say "$500" anywhere on the homepage. Sites with "Win $500" or "Win $1,000 gift card" in the title are guide sites at best. The $1,000 figure in particular has never appeared in any official rules I've read; the prize has been $500 in every rules document I've read.

People also type the address wrong in ways that can land on the wrong site: tellthebellcom, tellthebell comcom, tellthe tellthebell com survey, tellthebell survey.com, tellthebell survey com, tellthebell survey tellthebell, tell the bell www tellthebell com survey, www tellthebell com taco bell survey, tellthebell.com/survey, tellthebell/survey, tacobellsurvey.com tellthebell survey, and the pasted-URL search "tellthebell survey https://www.tellthebell". The plain domain, tellthebell.com, is the only one that matters. The /survey path isn't needed; the homepage is the survey.

Tellthebell survey canada: tellthebellcanada.ca survey, tellthebell ca survey and tellthebell.ca survey all redirect to one page

I tested this on September 9, 2026. Typing tellthebellcanada.ca into a browser sends you, via a 302 redirect, to u.tacobellsurvey.com/can. That page is titled "Taco Bell Canada Guest Experience Survey", it's run by SMG, and it opens with a consent screen about cookies and IP addresses before you see any form.

No prize is mentioned on the Canadian page either. Guides claiming a separate Canadian $500 draw are guessing. The survey exists. The sweepstakes rules I found are US-only, limited to residents of the 50 states and DC.

Taco Bell Canada survey (tellthebellcanada.ca)

Talktothebelluk and www tellthebell co uk: the UK version

The UK survey lives at talktothebelluk.com, which redirects to u.tacobellsurvey.com/gbr, titled "Taco Bell United Kingdom Guest Experience Survey". Same SMG consent screen, same © 2026 SMG footer. There is no tellthebell.co.uk site as far as I can tell; the "www tellthebell co uk" search just reflects people guessing at the address.

Taco Bell UK survey (talktothebelluk.com)

Tell taco john's com survey login: that's a different chain

Taco John's is a Wyoming-based chain with about 350 stores, mostly in the Upper Midwest. Its survey is at telltacojohns.com and it's built on Forsta, not SMG. It asks for a 20-digit code printed as xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx-xxxx and promises "an appreciation offer at the end of this survey", which is the free item people remember. That's the survey that gives you something at the end. Taco Bell's doesn't.

There's no login there either, so "telltacojohns com survey login" is as empty a search as the Taco Bell one. The "telltacojohns survey code" is the 20 digits; the page has a link for kiosk customers without a receipt. Meant the taco john's survey? That's your site.

Tellthebell.com careers: no such page

"tellthebell.com careers" is a Google autocomplete suggestion, so enough people type it to matter. The site has one page and it's a survey form. Taco Bell jobs are at tacobell.com/careers, and corporate roles are on Yum! Brands' own careers site. If a page is asking you to fill in a job application under the tellthebell name, it's collecting your details for something else.

Tell the bell complaint: when a survey isn't the right tool

The survey is fine for "the fries were cold". It's the wrong tool for a wrong charge, a food safety problem, or an app order that never showed up. Those need a person. The survey doesn't give you one.

For a taco bell complaint that needs a reply, call taco bell customer service at 1-800-822-6235 (that's 1-800-TACO-BELL) or use the contact form at tacobell.com/contact-us, which lets you attach the receipt. Have the store number ready; it's the same number the survey wants, and the agent will ask for it first.

Corporate mail goes to Taco Bell Corp., 1 Glen Bell Way, Irvine, CA 92618, the same address printed as sponsor on the sweepstakes rules. I wouldn't bother for a cold burrito.

Taco Bell contact page

Taco bell near me: finding the store number without the receipt

Lost the receipt but remember the store? The locator at tacobell.com/locations lists every US store by address, and the store number is usually shown on the individual location page and in the app's order history. Search the street name, open the store, note the number.

Without a store number you can't start the survey; there's no "skip" option on the first screen. But you can still use the mail-in route above if a drawing is running, since the postcard doesn't ask for any receipt details.

What is the Tellthebell survey, and how can you win $500 cash by taking this survey?

This is the exact wording of a Quora question that's been sitting open for years, and the honest answer is that the second half of it is wrong. Tellthebell is the receipt-triggered Taco Bell customer satisfaction survey that SMG runs; the same thing shows up in search as the tellthebell online survey, the www tellthebell com online survey, the www tellthebell com feedback survey, the tellthebell customer survey (or tellthebell.com customer survey), the tellthebell com customer satisfaction survey, and, plural, tellthebell com surveys. When a sweepstakes is attached, the prize is a $500 Taco Bell e-gift card, not cash. You enter by finishing the survey and leaving your contact details on the last screen, or by mailing a card. That's the whole mechanism.

Do Taco Bell employees get in trouble for bad survey scores?

This question comes up on Reddit constantly, usually from crew members. From what managers and former crew have written there, the answer is: the store gets scored, not the individual. Survey results roll up into a store-level report that the general manager and the area coach look at weekly. A run of low "speed" scores gets a conversation about drive-thru times. A named complaint gets someone coached. A named compliment can, at some stores, get a shout-out on the shift board or a small bonus, which is more than most customers realise they have the power to hand out.

So if a crew member was good, name them in the comment box. That's the one bit of the survey that reliably reaches a human.

Is tellthebell legit, or is the $500 a scam?

The site is legit. tellthebell.com is registered and operated by SMG for Taco Bell Corp., and the rules PDF is hosted on the same domain. The sweepstakes was real when it ran; the administrator named in the 2024 rules is US Sweepstakes & Fulfillment Company in Rochester, New York, a firm that runs drawings for a lot of national brands.

What's not legit is the ecosystem around it: dozens of copycat domains promising $500 or $1,000, some of them asking for personal details on their own forms. The survey never asks for a card number, a Social Security number, or a fee. If a page does, it isn't the survey.

Why does my Taco Bell receipt have no survey code?

Because the US survey doesn't use one any more. The "tellthebell my receipt has no survey code" search is people looking for a field that isn't on the form. Your receipt has a store number, a date, and a time. Those three are the entry. Ignore any guide that says 16 digits.

Does the Taco Bell survey give you a free taco or a coupon?

No. The tellthebell survey has no validation code, no coupon, no free item at the end. People mix it up with Taco John's (appreciation offer), Wendy's (a free item code on the receipt), or Taco Bell's own app promotions, which are separate. If you want free Taco Bell, the app's rewards program is the only official route. For a receipt survey where the reward is never stated up front, see what the KFC survey reward actually is.

Fixes for the errors people hit on tellthebell.com

"Invalid store number"

You dropped a leading zero, or typed the order number. Re-read the top of the receipt. If the store number on the receipt is fewer than five digits, try padding with a zero in front. That fix works more often than it should.

Date dropdown won't go back far enough

The year dropdown only lists 2025 and 2026. A 2024 receipt can't be entered. That's by design; the survey period is over.

Page times out or reloads to the start

SMG's form is session-based. Leave it idle for more than a few minutes and it drops you. Fill it in one sitting. Some people report Safari's cross-site tracking setting dropping the session on iPhones; a different browser is the quick fix.

No contact form at the end

Not an error. It means no sweepstakes period is open. Your feedback still went to the store.

Español link does nothing

It reloads the same page in Spanish and looks almost identical, so people click it twice and think it failed. Check the field labels: "Número de tienda" means it worked.

Mail-in card rejected

Wrong card size or a missing birth date are the usual reasons. The 2024 rules say "hand print", so I wouldn't type it, and I'd put one card per envelope.

Frequently asked questions

How do I take the Taco Bell survey?

Go to www.tellthebell.com, type the store number from your receipt, pick the date and time of your visit from the dropdowns, and press Start. Answer the rating screens and the comment box. If a drawing is open, leave your contact details on the last screen. About five minutes.

Is tellthebell.com the official Taco Bell survey site?

Yes. It's operated by SMG (Service Management Group) for Taco Bell Corp. The footer shows "© 2026 SMG" and links to smg.com's privacy policy. The official rules PDF for the 2024 sweepstakes is hosted at tellthebell.com/Projects/TAC_CSI/pdfs/Sweepstakes_US.pdf.

What do you get for doing the Taco Bell survey?

A sweepstakes entry when one is running, for a $500 Taco Bell e-gift card. No coupon, no discount, no free item. When no drawing is open, you get a thank-you screen.

How long is the tellthebell survey?

Five to seven minutes. Roughly 10 to 12 rating screens plus one comment box. The accessibility version takes about the same time.

How many digits is the Taco Bell survey code?

There isn't one on the current US form. The form asks for a store number (usually 5 or 6 digits), a date, and a time. The "16-digit tellthebell survey code" in older guides refers to a format that's no longer used.

Can I take the tellthebell survey without a receipt?

Only if you know the store number and the date and time of your visit, which is unlikely without the receipt. The app's order history has all three for mobile orders. Otherwise, mail a card during a sweepstakes period.

Can I do the tellthebell survey twice?

You can fill in the survey for every separate receipt. For the sweepstakes, the 2024 rules limited it to one entry per person per survey period and one prize per household for the whole run, whether the entry came from a survey or a postcard.

Is there a tellthebell com survey español version?

Yes. Click the "Español" link at the bottom right of the homepage. It's the same form translated; there's no separate Spanish site.

What happened to the "tellthebell com survey today 2024", "tellthebell com survey today 2023" and "tellthebell com survey today 2022" pages?

Those were third-party guide pages with the year in the title for search traffic. The official site has never had a year in its URL. Same address, every year: tellthebell.com.

Who runs tellthebell?

SMG, a Kansas City customer experience firm, runs the survey and the website. Taco Bell Corp. of Irvine, California is the sponsor. US Sweepstakes & Fulfillment Company of Rochester, New York administered the 2024 drawing.

Does the Taco Bell survey send a confirmation email?

No. There's no email after finishing the survey. The only email you might ever get is a winner notification, and under the 2024 rules you had 48 hours to reply to it.

What is the tellthebell com survey homepage supposed to look like?

A white page with the Tell The Bell logo top left, a teal "Tell us about your visit!" banner, a bold welcome sentence, one text box for Store Number, six dropdowns for date and time, and a grey Start button. If you see anything else, you're on a copycat.
